The "punishment" for compassion is the heartbreak that trails....

But saving oneself from that "punishment" would mean depriving so many others from (often times), the last chance we provide.   It's like a miracle we get to be a part of.

The problem is: the emotional wounds left by our unsuccessfuls is not an easy heal, since we expect of ourselves collectively, to so often,  be able to overcome almost impossible odds, because of the successes we do have, whether that means bringing the ones on the edge back to health, or just simply a new home.

I know that we all share that pain, and we don't all even know each other personally.  God knows it is a disappointment, deeply felt because; we do have so many good outcomes, the losses seem all the harder.
