Jeanie,
As you can see from this photo Gracie had a bandage on
her foot for a while, she had a split toe-nail that had to be removed but it
will grow back. It's off now and we're planning another trip down to GA, I'll
give you a call or email when we're in Augusta and can stop by for a visit,
Gracie is doing very well and enjoying the mild winter we've had so far this
year. Only one day of snow in early October so it's been quite a contrast to the
previous winter we had which had record snowfall, I've enjoyed it as well since
I don't have any snow to shovel regularly. Hope you are doing well, I know that
Gracie will be excited to see her old roommates and you. Looking forward to
seeing you again.
Later.....Will

Hi Everyone,
Attached are a few pictures of Una Petunia and her new
family. Una has on the red collar/bow and the other handsome fellow is her
new fur-brother Ziggy.
Happy New Year!
Kristy

Bacon and Petunia moved all the way from Clarksville TN to Atlanta where their daddy is with GraphicWorks.
Both kids are siblings, both bonded (obviously) and both aspiring artists.

Miss Una Petunia has been adopted and she's happily moved to Snellville, GA where she's entering the financial world, a scary place to be sometimes.
She's safe though and her new parents will take really good care of her.

Good looking kid Jackson Lee has been adopted and he's now located in Jacksonville, FL where he's a department head with the Mayo Clinic there.
Jackson, (or Doc Jack) may also be doing some teaching.

Mr. Cheify Nelson has been adopted and has moved from the mountains of Roodwood, TN to the mountains of Chattanooga, TN
Cheify is still little more than a poopie dog but his new parents say he's learning fast.

Little Miss Sophie Ussery, weenie dawg, has been adopted and has moved into her new home. We'll have a little more shortly. She's nothing short of a miracle weenie dog.

Miss Cookie Elizabeth has been adopted and has moved all the way to Springfield KY. We have some pics.
Looks like everything is working out fine.
Bud the rat terrier came to the rescue with his two younger siblings (both now adopted) a few years ago. He was really a "behind the scenes kind of guy".
Quietly, and without fanfare, took the position of Poppy's caretaker, assisting him to find the food, water, blanket, potty pad, etc. because Poppy was 2 years older and blind and deaf. They always slept together, cuddling to keep each other warm under their blankets. I don't think they were ever more than a few feet apart the entire time they were together. Bud was Poppy's best friend in the world, and he spent most of the day yesterday crying for Bud. Today is a little better. Bud was a true southern gentleman, even at 16 with painful arthritis and a number of age related ailments, he remained patient and loving with his best friend.
Now that he has gone to the Bridge, he no longer feels "old" as he waits for Poppy to join him. They will play and feel the sunshine on their backs, and no more pain. Bud will be missed by the entire family. We miss you Bud House,
Our Sweet old (18yo) boy, Poppy, has gone to the bridge this morning to meet his BFF, Bud. They will be feeling so much better and I know Bud was standing there, waiting for Poppy. Smile sweet boy, run and play, and say hello to all your other friends. Be Happy! I will see you again, and until then you will both be sorely missed. We love you both.....
God Bless you little men
.

Remember little Jimmy Buffett in Florida? Well, look at the little man now -

Hi, hope you enjoyed the holidays, as we did with our new companion Zack. Here some pictures

Hi Joe,I hope everything is great up your way. Since we last spoke, Z and I went to FL to complete my Ph.D. I finished in December and we landed in Chattanooga - I am teaching at UTC until May while I look for a tenure trackposition. Zorro is still doing great. He is in wonderful health and completely spoiled. I am attaching a couple Christmas pic so you can see our beautiful boy.
All the best! Tara (and El Zorro)
(Z is a special "little" man to the rescue - joe)
I just lost my Papillion, Tinkerbell, sick for a long time. She just stopped eating and this afternoon. She took her last breath in my arm.
2011 ended with all of us loosing so many children and 2012 came around and I lost another one.

Katie and Major Berens begin the new year properly. Either grab a ball and "do something" with it, or, take a little nap.
A late pic of Miss Kitty Kat Blake, Christmas package.

We have some recent pics of Bubba Gump and his family, the Lindauer family. Mr. Suds Greene, Grandfather Boston, watches over everybody.

Caesar wanted me to share this picture of him and his best friend Turbo with you all and this picture of him with Troy and Turbo taking a nap today. He has a VERY rough life here. :)

Little Skippy Baker now lives in Cartersville, GA with his new parents, Amy and Steve. He's a handsome little guy and we're hoping for fresh pics.

Mr. Henry Aaron has been adopted but he didn't have to go far. His foster momma and his new parents are both in Rockwood, TN.
Paul and Diane have a new little boy.

We're very pleased to announce the adoption of Miss Peaches Elise to her new momma Debra in Marietta GA where she has a new sister already, a little Boston gal named Dottie.
Everybody is very happy.

The
tale of Noel Star
My
name is Noel Star and I would like to share my story with you.
I
came to a rescue from afar
Saved
from death row
For
I committed no crime
Just
another unloved dog set to perish
Yet
fate intervened
I
flew from my cage like a snow white dove
It
was a miracle, a Christmas miracle
For
not one life was saved but seven
For
I was like another Mother seeking a shelter from the storm
The
North Star guided my path to my sanctuary
Where
I could heal and my babies grow
A
quite place to rest my weary mind
My
foster Mom rushed around making the house ready for the birth of my babies
She
feed me good food, gave me warm bed but most of all love and peace of mind
But
the stress of my past took away my future a few days later
My
babies came too soon and they slipped away one by one.
Each
time my heart broke and my eyes cried endless tears
We
could do nothing but hold them and tell them not to be scared, for at the
Bridge others are waiting for them.
They
will watch over you till I can be with you once more when my journey is done
We
gave them each names and kissed them one last time
We
laid my little ones to rest and set their souls free
They
are dearly missed
Today
the North Star again guided my path
I
got to meet another wonderful lady
She
is going to take care of me now, I love her already.
She
will take care of me while I recuperate
So
that is my story I close the chapters on my past and set my eyes forward to
writing my future.
I
ask you to remember this story and the names of my babies.
Let
not their deaths be in vain, let is shed light on those needing sanctuary
from the cruelty of man.
Rest in Peace babies

Miss Marnie Noel and Mr. Sparky Bark have been adopted together and have moved to Candler, NC near Asheville. Marnie's just staying tight with her new momma Jennifer but Mr. Sparky is toying with the idea of a career in TV.
We're hoping for some new pics, asap.

Gertie
came from Yancy County shelter in NC in July of 2010, after the shelter manager
there said "I will bring her to you if that's what I need to do."
East TN took her in of course, and eventually she ended up here, to find out
what was going on with her at Chilhowee. Mike offered to
foster her inasmuch as we still didn't know what was going on, had some strange
skin issues and had the appearance of early signs of Cushings.
It crossed my mind more than once too, that she might have been an English
Bulldog lady, dressed up in a Boston suit.
When she was getting ready for the ride on Bogie's Boston Air for Apex, NC,
Gertie turned and she looked at me and I knew then she was going to be Gertie
Owen. Mike and Karen lavished her with attention, both to her
medical problems and her little Boston soul. She couldn't have been
in finer care and now she's getting fitted for a larger set of Boston wings.
Gertie
is probably already back to Mike and Karen, a special Boston angel again.

Marlana sends along a pic of Mr. Hoss, enjoying a little sparse winter sunning.

Hello! And happy holidays!
Penny Lane is doing fantastically! We are at
my parents in Baltimore for the holidays and she has become BFFs (best friends
forever) with my parent's dog, Libby. (You can see them together in the
attached photo.) My sister knit her the coat she's wearing, which she
tends to wear outside in the cold weather. My parents think she's a
delightful house guest and everyone who has met her this holiday season (and
it's been a lot of people!) have absolutely loved her. It's the ears.
There's been a lot of debate over her ancestry, but I simply say she's a
purebred American mutt and people seem to like that.
Her car anxiety is getting better, but can
sometimes be set off if she really needs to potty, at which point we find a good
place to stop and let her do her business. She otherwise just lays in the
seat and watches me drive. Every once in a while I'll catch her snoozing,
but it doesn't happen often. She loves the dog walker who takes her out in
the middle of the day, and he is equally enamored.
I hope everyone down there had a good holiday season! Thank you again for
Penny, she's a joy and a half.

Della called this morning to let me know that Duff (the male from GA) that she had picked up personally, along with a little girl, has gone to the Rainbow Bridge this morning. He was 11 years old, and only with Della for a short time - but long enough for her to love him and him to love her. I am sending this because Della is still not able to stop crying over her little boy. Prayers for all.
We are all shocked - he was eating, drinking and playing last night. So very sorry Della, but he is not with so many wonderful furkids waiting and playing at the bridge.

They're innocent... these little ones, animals that were dependent on their
humans and their humans let them down.

We're hoping for some new pics soon.
Here's another one of Zoe Jane's little kids, Cher Bono. Cher lives with her new daddy Ken in Savannah Ga. She's probably had time for the little puppy bimp to heal up on her noggen.
We're always hoping for new pics.

Mr. Jake W. Remick and father David.

Miss Lovely Valentina has been adopted here in Maryville and she's in the middle of a bunch of kids, large and small.
We're hoping for some new pics with the kids. Her dog sister Sugar misses her.

Little Trixie Lynn has been adopted and she's now handling things at a horse rescue.
You can visit Trixie's new home at http://www.beautysequinerescue.org/ and check out all the big kids there.
Trixie is high heartworm positive, so she'll be taking it easy for the next few months to get past that problem.

Reba Nell has been adopted. Here are a few words from her happy new momma --
Hi, Donna!
